Many of us trying to lose weight will start each working day with good intentions, saying to ourselves that we will not give into our cravings and have any sugary treats. But soon enough we find our stomach rumbling for a mid-morning snack. Just what can we do to avoid this?

  1. Stay Busy: Snacking is extremely common for those who are bored. Keeping yourself busy means that you have less time to think about snacking. Line up tasks before lunch to make sure your mind doesn’t wander to thoughts of treats.
  2. Buy Lots of Fruit: Having fruit on your desk is a great alternative to snacking. Just have a bite of some juicy fruit when you’re hungry and you’ll avoid eating snacks that are much less healthy.
  3. Don’t Keep Loose Change: if you have a vending machine at work then no change means no snacks! Just don’t carry any small change to work and you won’t be able to buy a snack even if you want it!
  4. Stay Calm: Snacking at work is hard to control, and even more so when we are stressed. Work at avoiding stress and staying relaxed. It helps to plan your workload effectively to avoid those unhealthy snacks.
