Nowadays in the technology age, where more people live lives behind computers with drive through restaurants and remote controls, people tend to gain weight quickly and keep it on. Obesity is caused when your physical activity is not using the amount of calories that you body is taking in. If you eat too many calories and you have limited mobility your body will store the fat. Other causes will be taking in to much saturated or Trans fat and cholesterol heavy foods causing you to gain weight, raise cholesterol levels and puts you at risk for many ailments associated with obesity.
Fat is measure on a body mass index formula and the circumference of you weight. You are in danger of being considered obese if your waist measure 35 inches in women and 40 inches on men. The BMI index gives you a number in relation to your weight and height. Weight measured in kilograms is then divided by your height in meters squared (kg/m2) or you can multiply your weight by the number of pounds by 703, divide the sum of that by your height in inches and then divide it by your height in inches again.
In studies by national companies a BMI of 30 or more is considered to be overweight. You are considered severely obese if you have a BMI of 40 or more and are in even greater risk of heart disease.

If you are obese you will need to make drastic lifestyle changes to help you lose weight, by increasing your activity, and watching your food intake and cutting Trans fats from your diet, and lowering your cholesterol levels you will make you lose weight and lower your risk of heart disease.
